Often trace monotype is based on an original drawing or a computor print which you trace having a inked paper underneath.Your drawingpaper is sandwiched between the original and the inked paper. Of course, if you work freehand directly onto the drawingpaper , the trace-bit is not involved. Even so the name sticks to the process. You can also make an edition, but of course draw the lines again and again. Elisabeth
